Taman Negara Trip 11th - 13th April, 2008

Taman Negara (National Park) which located in Pahang spread out over 4343 sq. km of the formidable Titiwangsa Mountain Range ,one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforest. Finally, I have experienced for its natural environment in the trip which held on 11th - 13th April, 2008. It was a history in my life to try out so many first time experience.

In day 1, 11th April - 2 cars with 6 persons in the trip was departed from KL at around 9.30am and arrived in Kuala Tembeling at early 12pm. It was a wrong direction given by the tour agency that they sent a map to me that meet the tour guide at Kuala Tembeling but its actually the exact place is in Kuala Tahan. Finally, we manage to meet the tour guide and having a lunch in Jerantut which is provided in the trip package. After that, we continue our driving journey to Woodland Resort.

It was a long distance about 70++ km to entering in the Woodland Resort from Jerantut.

We reached Woodland Resort about 2.15pm

Upon arrived in Woodland Resort, we immediately go for check-in and put our luggage into the room and rest less than 15 minutes, we have start our activities by taking a boat to Gua Telinga (Ear Cave) and visit Orang Asli as well. Everytimes if we got some activities, we have to take a van to fetch us into the riverside and take boat to across the river.

All the boats park in the riverside wait to fetch passenger to Taman Negara.

The place where we taking the boat to Taman Negara. From left Peng Peng, me, Tham.

Nearby the riverside, there were alot of floating restaurant and this is the place we take the boat. Photo shows Ellie was across to floating restaurant.

Yeah.. let's go to Gua Telinga. First ride in first day at 2.45pm. Front - Kah King. Sitting behind from left is Peng Peng follow by Siew Yong. Further behind is me.

Its takes about 10 minutes to reach the area to Gua Telinga. While going to the cave, we were passby the Orang Asli Settlement.

Its takes about 20 minutes walking distance to Gua Telinga. You will see most of the photos are inside the jungle.

All of us show our happy face before entering the cave.

The Gua Telinga is just about 70 meter distance only. But we take about 30 minutes to get out from the cave.

This is what we saw inside the cave. Thousand of bats and the dropping in the ground. It is very skillful to avoid from dirty. I just can't imagine how the fat people can go in. It was so narrow and cramping.

The is no photo been taken when we get out from the cave. Reason why is we are so dirty and get wet inside the cave. That time just happen to sizzle rain. Anyway, we still proceed our itinerary to go to visit Orang Asli Settlement.

Our tour guide, Azli, show the culture of living of Orang Asli. He show us how they setting up fire and hunting by using blowpipe.

We leave Orang Asli settlement and continue our next activity. Photo taken 4.35pm.

Our next activity is rapid shooting. The skillful boatmen riding to the upstream of river and shooting rapids until all of us fully get wet. It was the most fun part in the entire trip. Unfortunately, we cannot take any photo in this activity due to water flowing into the boat. So, we keep our belongings into the plastic bag. Its takes about 1 hours enjoying rapid shooting and after that we stop by bathing in some place. Some of them thought that can avoid their shoes get wet inside the Gua Telinga, but they can't escape to get wet in the rapid shooting. hahaah... (For those who planning to go Taman Negara, please prepare for spare shoes for backup)

Enjoying bathing here.

We went back to our resort around 6.30pm, take turns of showering. And proceed for the dinner at 7.30pm.

Our shoes get wet all the time. Luckily I got bring scandal and extra shoes.

While waiting for them showering, I went for swimming. I enjoy the swimming on this 2 days after come back to resort.

They look so tiring, so am I.

Dinner time. 5 dishes. No pork.

Our first night, suppose is going to the night walk jungle but is postponed to 2nd day. Therefore, we play our own activity, playing cards. Then sleep at 11.30pm ...zzzz

2nd day of the trip - 12th April. We having our breakfast in the resort at 7.30am and as usual, take van going down to riverside, waiting for tour guide and bring us for jungle trekking. It takes about 3 hours on this jungle trekking including of experience for the canopy walk and going up to the Bukit Teresek.

Siew Yong and Tham enjoying their breakfast buffet in the Woodland Resort.

We have to take the boat to across the river to Mutiara Taman Negara, the most expensive resort in Taman Negara.

Photo taken in Mutiara Taman Negara showing the opposite riverside of the floating restaurant and other resorts including Woodland Resort.

This is the place where we get our entry permit of Taman Negara. While waiting for the permit, we look at their various animal and plant photos.

Okay.. let's start our jungle trekking here. 1.5KM to Canopy bridge, it takes about 45 minutes to there. We have to reach there fast, or else we need to wait for the long queue to across the canopy bridge.

"Lawatan sambil belajar". While we walking, Azli will explain the spesies of the plant and the usefulness of the plant.

"We will come again to this "Bumbun Tahan" at night to see the wild animal for the night jungle walk", said Azli.

Can you see the wild pig? They are not bothering us while we on our way.

1KM to go to Canopy Walk.

Finally, we reach to the Canopy Walk station. Its about 300 meters long of the canopy bridge with breakdown by platform. There extended it another 200 meter long which still in renovation.

Do you scare to across? It is about 45 meter height from ground. I can tell you that, non of us scared on this.

Just do it.

Impossible is nothing.

Yeah! I make it.

Sap sap sui.

Bor rasa.

Actually the Canopy Walk is not that scary. But for those who afraid of height..mm.. maybe. Its just a short distance of walking through the bridge. We continued our trekking to Bukit Teresek, about 400 meter top of the hill. There are two view points upon up to the hill. Its takes about 1 hour to climb up into the 1st view point. Furthermore, it takes about 10 minutes of 750 meter distance to 2nd view point.

It is very tiring trekking.. to climb up every staircase and mud ground to up to the Teresek Hill.

But yet got time to have a coffee.

Around 45 minutes to climb up the 1st view of Bukit Teresek.

This is a 2nd view point of the hill and it consider top of the hill.

Everyone take a deep breathe and look at the beautiful scenery here.

All of us feel hungry.. is time for lunch but we are still suffering of going down the hill.

Oh.. a small accident here. Peng Peng was slippered on the ground while rushing back down the hill because of hungry. Our tour guide used the traditional way of picking up some herbs from the jungle to first aid her leg.

Yeah.. going for lunch now. Its almost 2pm.

Mmm... I'm full. Food is cleared.. Drinks is cleared.

After lunch, we continued our adventure to Lata Berkoh, a fishing sanctuary and waterfall. Its took about 30minute by boat to reach there.

Too bad.. while just arrived into the Fishing lodge, there was an heavy rain. We stop here for another 20-30 minutes. You can go to fishing here.. but we choose to go to waterfall which is further up to the river flow.

Here's is the Lata Berkoh waterfall. It was so beautiful photo taken by Kah King. There are deep pool below the cascade, too danger for swimming. Becareful of the slippery rocks, me and Ellie were crashed with each other because of that. Sorry, Ellie.. are you okay of your chin?

I was realized my leg being bite by leech. I believes most of us was being bite as well.

Okay.. way back to resort. Take a rest, swimming, showering & dinner. Tonight, we have a night jungle walk.

We acrossed the river to Mutiara Taman Negara again, to watch a video clip (about 20 minutes) regarded plants and animals in taman negara.

Nothing much we can take photos at night except this. A scorpion, our tour guide's favourite. Its about 1 hour plus for that night to see some insects, plants and wild dears in Bumbun Blau. We back to resort around 10.30pm then we went for sleep. Too tired on this day.

Day 3 - 13th April. We supposed to back to KL after the breakfast. Our tour guide, Azli, promised us to bring us to another cascade located in Jerantut. That was our last activity. We were hanging around there.... play some water.. swimming as well.

This waterfall is more safer than the Lata Berkoh one. Very nice..

After taking lunch, we drive home safely. Thanks for all who participate for the trip. Specially thanks to Kah King & Ellie for the photo sharing in facebook.

- THE END -
